Dulles, VA: The calendar many say that it is Fall, but that doesn't mean that gardeners and people who love to be outdoors are starting to hibernate inside. This is just the time of year when people start to think about how they can enjoy their backyards and gardens next Spring. Gardeners already are beginning to plan what to plant next year. And, others are deciding how they will celebrate the Spring weather outside. Gardeners and entertainers love to receive holiday gifts that will help them enjoy and develop their favorite hobbies, as well. Shelley Snow and Elaine Husband have created a book to help gardeners and party-givers dream away the dreary Fall and Winter seasons – Gathering in the Garden: Recipes and Ideas for Garden Parties.
Gathering in the Garden is a unique collection of garden parties. Each party comes with delicious menus, recipes, and creative special effect ideas that transform ordinary events into unforgettable gatherings. The recipes center around the bounty of the home garden and make lavish use of its produce. Parties include The Unexpected for the Expecting (a surprise baby shower), Sunrise Service (an early morning back porch breakfast), Hard Body Wanna-be's Lunch (low-fat, high fun), Pool Side Supper (a party evoking an island attitude), and Flavors of Fall (a cornucopia of ideas and recipes). Recipes include Tomato Green Chili Dip, Cheesy Tomato Melts, Gauguin's French Coconut Macaroons, Pickled Shrimp with Cherry Tomatoes and Olives, Roasted Corn on the Cob with Cayenne Lime Butter, Buttery Asparagus Roll Ups, Pear Tarts, and many others. This wonderful gift book is beautifully illustrated by the authors' watercolors.
Rich Boyd, Executive Director of the Tennessee Arts Commission, says, "Two talented Tennessee artists and life-long friends invite readers into their world of creativity where the day begins with Morning Glories, tomatoes are queens and angels are among us. This journey through the beauty and bounty of the southern garden provides the perfect setting for the gifted duo of Snow and Husband to create and share themes of fancy, inventive menus, scrumptious recipes and clever ideas for gracious entertaining. Noteworthy is the inclusion of original art in this charming book."
